More Britons Looking for Property Abroad
added: 2009-06-24

Searches for international property on Primelocation.com show that the British are still interested in buying abroad despite the economic slowdown.

Spain, in which the search volume has increased 27% year on year, has taken first place above France compared to 12 months ago, as buyers look for opportunities to snap up bargains. Searches in Portugal have also increased by 15% since May 08 and by 12% since April 09 while Italy is showing a 13% increase in searches since May 08.

Interest in Switzerland has increased 20% year on year, possibly fuelled by the recent increase in income tax for top earners in the UK

Outside of Europe, interest in the US continues to grow with an 87% increase in searches compared to May 08.

Ann Wright, International Development Manager at Primelocation.com, comments: "Although the market is slow there are still buyers and investors out there with an interest in certain areas. Many will be looking to take advantage of the reduced property prices. "
